VINYL SEAWALL VS ROCK SEAWALL
There are a few types of seawalls on the market. Two of which are Vinyl and Steel Seawalls. These are designed to protect your shoreline against areas with moving water and ice. Though both options boast interlocking pilings driven into the ground and are specifically crafted to protect the shoreline, there are definite differences and multiple benefits for choosing vinyl.
But first, let's talk Steel Seawalls. In essence, steel and vinyl pilings boast the exact same measurements. Steel is welded in place to ensure a secure seawall, however, this option is not finished off with anything, and can end up looking a little industrial. Some may say that due to the nature of how it's installed, steel is a better option. However, vinyl offers quite a few things that steel doesn't, for one vinyl boast a bit of flexibility, and the ability to finish it off, making it look a little more professional. |
Both Vinyl and Steel Seawalls are composed of 18 inches by 1/4 inch thick pilings, that are driven into the lake bed. While Steel is welded into place from here, the Vinyl option is now complete except for one little option. Capping off the seawall with some treated lumber, and top board. Though there are often cons to any option, in the case of vinyl there are more pros than cons. No rusting or corroding of the pilings, multiple color options, and ideal for soggy soil conditions.
